Wise Folk Still Seek Him
IT ALL WENT DOWN LIKE THIS!
A sister named Mary was to be married to a brother whose name was Joseph. It was Joseph, you see, who was a descendant of Abraham. It turned out that Mary was already pregnant, and Joseph wasn’t happy about it–especially since the child wasn’t his.
But Joseph was a pretty cool brother. Although he coulda dissed the sister big time and had her sent away, he decided that Mary was an all right sister (although she did have a big problem). For her sake, he decided that he wasn’t gonna tell everybody her business.
So while he sat and thought about how he would send Mary away without everybody knowin’ what was happenin’, an angel of the Almighty stood before him. “Brother Man, don’t do this thing you’re thinking. Believe me when I tell you, the kid Mary is carrying is a holy kid. Just like a brother named Isaiah said a long time ago, ‘A virgin will get pregnant, though not by any brother, and when the kid is born his name shall be called Immanuel,’ which is the name of the Almighty Hisself!”
And Joseph went, “That’s pretty hip.” Without another word, he married the sister, Mary, and when the kid was born they called the little brother Jesus.

Waterfront Community Church Remembers
Because of what we believe, we commit ourselves to be part of the global response to HIV and AIDS,
keeping our promise to stop the hurt it causes, recognizing our fragility and vulnerability,
but also knowing that we are instruments of light that comes from the One who came to give life, life in its fullness.
We commit ourselves to promote the development of sensitive, shared, informed and generous leadership,
capable of influencing faith communities and social politics in our country and beyond our borders.
We commit ourselves to open ourselves and our community and table , to provide welcoming places where people living with HIV and their loved ones, can find love, acceptance, understanding, a listening ear, support and growth.
We commit ourselves, from this moment forward, until God’s reign of health and life comes in its fullness.
Let's Talk - Jesus and The Parable of The Lost Sheep and Occupy Wall Street
Faith Communities around America are coming together to wrap their hearts and minds around Occupy Wall Street. (Is yours?) OWS web site states “We are the 99 percent. We are getting kicked out of our homes. We are forced to choose between groceries and rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we’re working at all. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything. We are the 99 percent.”
Have you or anyone in your family suffered as a result of the economic downturn we are living in? What are you doing to support them? In Lk 15 :4-7, we are taught that God cares deeply for the one sheep. What would happen if the 99% were lost instead? Waterfront is interested in opening up the conversation.
You are invited to share with us as we eat, pray, worship and love and discuss our role as a faith people in OWS. We will talk about fairness and sharing and how we are helping families, each other, and our congregations during this kairos moment. Faith Talks, Wed., Nov 2 at 7:00PM, COSI, 535 Washington Street, Jersey City.

SUPPER BEING ENDED
In the quiet place
at close of day
he washes the feet of my mind from the dust of its fret.
His infinite eyes
see the staining and wounds of the road, his hands
bring smarting
and cleansing
and balm.
the grace of his health
restores my soul
her place in the circling stars of perpetual praise.
then, taking again the seamless robe, the Alpha-Omega,
Master and Lord,
we talk together,
friend with friend.
